As a commuter hub, good road and rail links are essential to keep Cheadle moving, so investing in these is a key part of my plan for our area.
The Conservative Government is taking action to improve our roads by allocating £1.6bn of funding to Local Authorities to maintain the highways until 2021. This includes an additional £250m pot to tackle problem potholes. We are also embarking on the biggest investment in railways since the Victorian era.
To press for more investment in transport and infrastructure in Cheadle and to keep this issue on the agenda, I have:
- Raised the issue of further transport and infrastructure investment in Cheadle at Prime Minister’s Questions.
- Held meetings with Ministers and local transport bosses to press for a solution to the traffic issues at the Gatley junction.
- Backed calls for Northern transport investment to be boosted and brought forward in order to realise our region's potential.
