On Friday 7th July, local residents made their way to St Michaels Parish Church in Bramhall for some tea and scones at the Big Bramhall Tea Party.
I joined over 300 guests attended on the day, who were also joined by the Mayor of Stockport, Linda Holt. This year was the fourth annual tea party, which is incredibly popular with local senior citizens, giving them the chance to have a chat with other local people and enjoy a pleasant afternoon in the garden of St Michaels.
I had the chance to talk to local residents about my support for the Jo Cox Loneliness Commission, the importance of tackling loneliness in communities through events like the Big Bramhall Tea Party, and how valuable such events are to local people.
It’s brilliant that events like the Big Bramhall Tea Party play such a big part in our community. It was great to see so many guests having a good time and to be able to speak to so many people. Many thanks to Wendy Green and the I Love Bramhall team for organising such a wonderful event, groups like this are the backbone of our community and I look forward to supporting many more events like this in the future.
Wendy Green, founder of I Love Bramhall and event organiser said: “I am incredibly grateful to all the businesses, community groups and individuals that help me to put this together, it’s a logistical nightmare, but when I see the finished result, the smiling faces and amazing team work from everyone, I know it’s been worthwhile. I love drawing the community together and this event is particularly special as the young and old mix with one another, bridging relationships and creating special memories.”
