CHEADLE MP Mary Robinson got the backing of David Cameron after she raised the importance of securing better services for people with mental health illnesses during Prime Minister’s Questions.
With around 25,000 people across Greater Manchester living with mental health problems, Mary Robinson was particularly concerned about young people in the region who suffer from eating disorders and who in the past may have been overlooked.
In his response, The Prime Minister said: “We are investing more in children’s mental health and giving greater focus, particularly on eating disorders, as tragically we are seeing a real growth in this problem”
Mary said: “I believe that it is important to look after people’s mental health at every stage of their lives and I am pleased that the Government is boosting the mental health support available for young people with £1.4bn being invested in services over the next 5 years”.
The Government has recently announced that it will be investing more in community services for eating disorders so that young people receive more effective help faster and closer to home
