Today in Prime Minister's Questions, I highlighted the need for continued investment in transport and infrastructure in Cheadle, I also announced that I had launched my transport survey.
Transport and infrastructure are two of the most important issues to people in Cheadle and among the most common issues that local residents contact me about.
Nationally the government is committed to the Northern Powerhouse, having allocated over £3.4billion to the region to promote growth and investment in infrastructure. The government has also supported the creation of Transport for the North and plan to invest a record £13 billion.
I asked the Prime Minister for her and the government's commitment to continue investment in transport and infrastructure in Cheadle and Greater Manchester. She responded by praising my commitment to these issues, and noting "under this government the Department for Transport is investing £290million to improve transport links to Manchester Airport through Cheadle, and £2.1million has been committed to improving walking and cycling routes around the Cheadle Hulme district centre."
I will be encouraging all my constituents to complete my survey here by printing it off and filling it in, you can then either scan it and email it to me at [email protected] or post it back to me at 8a Station Road, Cheadle Hulme, SK8 5AE.
I look forward to reading all the responses as they come in.
