Tomorrow marks a huge occasion in Britain’s history with our first ever Platinum Jubilee, a once in a lifetime spectacle. With all eyes turning to the UK and our capital city to witness the Trooping of the Colour, celebrations are also taking place across our area. Locally many streets in Cheadle are putting up the bunting, picnics being held, and cakes are being baked. The stage is set, and we’re ready for a celebration like no other this weekend.
Over the next few days, the nation will come together to honour Her Majesty The Queen for 70 years of unwavering duty and service to our country. It’s been so special seeing the preparations come together. A Platinum Jubilee is a rare thing: with no other British monarch ever reaching 70 years of service. It is such a momentous event in all of our lives.
It has been such a difficult two years for so many people. But there’s something about a jubilee which brings us all together to have a uniquely British party and it really is what we do best. With every Big Jubilee Lunch hosted, every street party thrown, and every yard of bunting hung, communities from coast to coast are pulling out all the stops to play their part in this major moment for the UK.
Finally, I would like to thank Her Majesty The Queen for her unwavering service.
God Save The Queen.
