I was delighted to be on hand to cut the ribbon at the opening of the Seashell Trust's new 3G pitch, along with Principal Jolanta McCall, Deputy Mayor Wendy Meikle, and Deputy Lieutenant of Greater Manchester Edith Conn, as well as some of the brilliant students who will benefit from the new facilities.
I've previously met the Football Foundation in Parliament and it was great to hear that a grant from them was one of the driving forces behind the new pitch, which will also provide a new home ground for Cheadle & Gatley FC.
The pitch will also be used by the CADS (Children’s Able and Disabled Sports) programme, to open up the world of football to young people with learning disabilities, helping them to enjoy the same benefits as their peers through keeping fit by playing regularly.
