I am delighted to hear that there are now some proposals for the redevelopment of Sim Chem House, and I understand the proposed scheme involves transforming the exterior of the building and creating 184 studios and apartments with parking.  As local residents are aware, the building has been empty for many years and having fallen into disrepair has become a magnet for anti-social behaviour.

I recently had the opportunity to meet with Sanjay Shah, a local property developer, who along with his business partner Martin Skinner, CEO of Inspired Homes, will be undertaking the redevelopment. I also met with Neil Taylor of Inspired Homes who along with Sanjay shared their plans with me and I was really interested to hear about similar developments they had undertaken in the South East of England.

Sanjay and Neil explained that they are keen to ensure they have a range of properties available and they are also hoping to launch ‘Help to Buy’ later this year.  The recent changes to legislation mean that planning permission is not required, so development can begin quickly with completion anticipated towards the end of 2018.

With a vibrant village centre, great sense of community and transport links by train to Manchester city centre, Cheadle Hulme is a popular choice for young professionals and families alike and I hope the redevelopment will breathe new life into this part of Cheadle Hulme.
