Today I visited the ongoing works to transform the old Sim Chem House into Fabrick, a 184 apartment development aimed at first time buyers and helping people onto the housing ladder.

The development, carried out by Inspired Homes, began earlier this year and is currently due to complete in December. I took a tour around the site with Construction Director, Adam Tokarski and Development Manager, Tom French, where we discussed the benefits of this district centre redevelopment project which is providing homes on what was previously a derelict site. New jobs have also been created locally in both the construction and sales team, and when the development is completed it will continue to be a source of local employment into the future.

Fabrick looks set to add something to Cheadle Hulme’s already great sense of community. It’s a great example of brownfield development and creating local jobs, and I’m delighted that along with Help to Buy it’s going to help people onto the housing ladder. It was good to see the work coming along to revitalise what had become such an eye-sore, and I can’t wait to see the finished product.
