I'm backing a call from Cancer Research UK to help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
Predictions show that the number of people with cancer in the UK is set to rise steeply by 2030, and I met staff and volunteers at the Cancer Research UK shop in Cheadle to show how people here can support the charity, to help accelerate the progress they are making and highlight the power of research in beating the disease.
Research is cancer’s number one enemy, and its people like the dedicated volunteers I met who are enabling researchers to keep making huge advances in the battle against cancer. While more of us are likely to be diagnosed in future, there is good news. Thanks to the generosity of supporters, Cancer Research UK’s work is helping to ensure more people survive.
I encourage everyone to support this great charity in any way they can, whether it’s donating or buying from the shop, volunteering for a few hours a week, or signing up for a sporting challenge.
